Description
MZA converted Holly House, a 1915 riverfront residence in Middletown, NJ, into a cutting-edge contemporary haven. The homeowners wanted a home that better reflected their modern tastes yet continued to honor the historic charm of the house. MZA redesigned the kitchen for greater functionality, transformed the basement into a wellness and entertainment area, and redesigned the 1,500-square-foot master suite to include a sitting room, office, and roof deck with breathtaking views of the Navesink River. The most adventurous addition was a brand-new pier: a shiny, 110-foot-long design constructed from greenheart piles, aluminum framing, and IPE decking, 45 feet high from the water line to the house. This sleek new addition, plus a new breakfast porch and thoughtfully edited interiors, infused new life into the Holly House. Today, it's an elegant retreat that beautifully balances history and modern-day comfort and craftsmanship.
