Description
MZA developed this contemporary hillside house in Nashville as a serene getaway informed by its natural environment. Influenced by Eileen Gray's "House by the Sea" and the Case Study Houses of mid-century California, the design welcomes the sloping topography and seasonal wildflowers that cover the property. The task was to make the house feel simultaneously grounded and lit yet tied onto the hillside and open to the landscape. MZA responded with a design that carefully frames selected views and floods the interiors with natural light. Glass walls, terraces, and subtle elevation changes create effortless transitions between inside and out. Every room maintains a visual connection to the rolling land, confirming a feeling of serene immersion in the landscape. The home rests simply and gracefully on the land, with the daily patterns of life enhanced by sun and season.
