Description
Situated on four wooded acres in Brentwood, TN, the House on Sunset strikes a balance between family living, creative work, and playful design. MZA was tasked with designing a home for five family members, one of whom is a professional musician in need of a private recording studio. The challenge: blend high-functioning interiors with a relaxed, retreat-like feel. MZA's layout included whimsical details like a secret stair to a child-oriented attic lounge, rectangular windows tracking sunlight along vaulted ceilings, and an attached pool house for casual entertaining. Hidden well within the property for seclusion, the house opens onto a lap pool and spacious patio, screened by trees. MZA guided interior decisions to combine familiar materials with clean modern lines. The finished home is as much sanctuary as it is playground, meant for quiet refuge, big gatherings, and artistic expression.
